Irene Mahoney - Public Information Officer - Mesa Police (AZ)

Irene Mahoney joined the Mesa Arizona Police Department in 2018 after more
than 15 years in the news business. As an Executive Producer and News Director, Irene managed newsrooms across the country, in various markets including Los Angeles, Boston, San Diego and Portland.
She is a multiple Emmy Winner, Peabody Award recipient and has also received
an Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence and various Associated Press
Awards. Originally from Boston, Irene and her family moved to Arizona in 2014. When she joined Mesa PD, Irene brought her media skills to the department to enhance its
communication and transparency with the community.
In addition to answering media inquiries and providing information on incidents,
she and the Media Relations Team use their growing social media platforms to
help share the amazing work that the officers in Mesa do every day. Irene is an avid sports fan and she and her husband keep busy with two teenage daughters; one is a competitive dancer, the other a competitive cheerleader.
They also have two dogs, a Frenchie named Bryan and Sadie the rescue dog!
